Role

Systems Designer

Genre

Roguelike

A 2.5D roguelike where the player is against the clock to earn points before the audience gets bored and the player dies. To earn points the player must kill enemies in a variety of ways, using physics and the deadly environment to their advantage.

My role was to create the Procedurally generated system that would spawn rooms and enemies. This included the amount of enemies, room types & trap placements.

The goal of this game was to see how far you can make it by clearing rooms of enemies to entertain an audience of aliens who kidnapped you and are using you as a form of entertainment.

My development was creating the logic behind the scoring system. This system awarded the player by killing enemies in different ways and factored diminishing returns on constant kills of the same type. This score then added to the amusement system that was constantly diminishing as the audience was easily bored.

I also created the logic for procedurally generating level structures., trap placement, enemy spawns & trap types. This allowed our level designers to place trap spawns and enemy spawns during level design to rapidly prototype level layouts and aid in balancing.
